App
Melon(AI 助手)
- Melon(AI 助手)默认不开。

Coach Melon Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 29, 2026 (version 8)
In short
Everything you record in Coach Melon stays on your own iPhone. Nothing is uploaded to us or shared with anyone, and there are no accounts, ads or analytics. The app goes online in only three cases: it searches Apple Maps for gyms near you on the Gyms tab; when you open the Gyms tab it fetches the public gym list and reset schedules from Where to Climb (where-to-climb.com) without sending any of your information; and when you turn on Melon (the AI assistant) yourself and ask it something, your question goes straight from the phone to DeepSeek.
What the app stores
- Body data: height, weight, arm span and the grade you usually climb, plus optional sex and segment lengths (upper arm, forearm, hand, thigh, shank, foot, torso, shoulder width, hip width; leg length and style preferences you entered before are still kept in your profile), and a body history saved when you change these numbers (one entry per day, up to 100). When you share your data, you send that text yourself; it carries only your height, arm span, weight, optional segment lengths and the five dimension scores of your latest self-check, not your name.
- Videos and movement data: climbing videos you record or import, the gym, wall, colour, grade, result and climber you tag on each one, and the pose points, center-of-mass trails and movement data computed from them.
- Gyms and routes: the gyms you have visited, plus wall photos, marked holds and routes from earlier versions (read-only, kept so you can watch old videos).
- Climbing partners: the names, heights and arm spans you enter for other people's videos, plus optional weight, sex and segment lengths (entered by you or pasted from what they shared with you), and the five dimension scores of their latest self-check if they shared it with you.
- Ability tests, the hold library, imported screenshots and heart-rate charts saved by earlier versions stay on your phone. This version no longer reads, writes or shows them.
Where the data lives
- Everything is stored in the app's own folder on this iPhone, without any server.
- The public gym list and reset schedules fetched from Where to Climb are kept in the app's cache folder. The system may clear it when storage runs low, and the app fetches it again later.
- If you have iCloud Backup turned on, your device backup includes this data. That is an Apple system feature handled under Apple's privacy policy; we cannot see it.
- Deleting the app deletes all of its data on this iPhone. Before switching phones you can export a backup in Me → Backup and Transfer.
What we don't do
- No server of our own: the pose-detection model ships with the app and runs on the phone. The app goes online in only three places: the Apple Maps search for nearby gyms (see Location under Permissions), fetching the public gym list and reset schedules from Where to Climb, and what you send to DeepSeek when you ask Melon something (see "Melon (AI assistant)" below). The Where to Climb requests only ask for the gym list and the reset schedules; it carries no location, name or records of yours, and distances to nearby gyms are worked out on the phone.
- We don't upload, sell or share your data, and we don't give it to third parties, except what you yourself send to DeepSeek when you ask Melon something.
- No accounts or sign-in, and no ads, tracking or usage analytics.
- Your data is not used to train any model.
When you share something yourself
When you export a backup, the file goes out through the system share sheet (for example AirDrop or a messaging app) to whoever you choose. The app never sends anything on its own.
Melon (AI assistant)
- Melon (the AI assistant) is off by default. Only after you enter your own DeepSeek API key and agree, your questions go straight from the phone to DeepSeek, not through us. With "Include my data" on, a summary of your body data, self-check scores and climbing record is sent as well. For a video or wall photo you attach in the chat, only the text worked out on the phone is sent (score, deductions, judgements, hold colours and counts, wall angles), never the photo or video itself. The text says whether you or which climbing partner climbed it, and lists the other videos on the same route (yours and partners') with date, sent or not, number of moves and score. Partners appear only by their name in the app; their height, arm span, weight and other body data are never sent. Sound and location are never sent. DeepSeek handles this content under its own privacy policy.
- When you talk to Melon (the microphone button), your voice is turned into text on the phone only (iOS on-device speech recognition). It isn't saved and isn't sent to DeepSeek or Apple; you read the text and tap send yourself.
- Your key is stored only in this iPhone's keychain and is not included in backups or exports. Conversations are stored on the phone, are included in backups, and can be deleted in Melon's history or under Me → Backup and Transfer → Clear data.
Permissions
- Camera: to record climbing videos. Videos are recorded without sound.
- Microphone and speech recognition: used only when you tap Melon's microphone button, to turn what you say into text on the phone. Nothing is saved or sent. Otherwise the app doesn't use the microphone.
- Photos: to pick videos and photos from your library; only the items you pick are read. The time and place saved in a picked video are read only on the phone, to sort it by date and guess which gym it was filmed at; they are not uploaded.
- Location: used once when you open the Gyms tab, to find gyms near you. Your current location and the search term are sent to Apple Maps, which handles them under Apple's privacy policy; they are not sent to Where to Climb. The app doesn't save your location or track it in the background, and we never receive it.
If you decline a permission, only the matching feature is unavailable; everything else keeps working.
Children
The app has no social features or accounts, and it does not knowingly collect anyone's data. Minors should use it with a parent or guardian.
Changes
Changes to this policy ship with app updates, and the app will ask you to read it again.
